UHLC 1L Recruiting Showcase

A wonderful networking opportunity, the UHLC 1L Recruiting Showcase is a table talk style event, where the University of Houston Law Center (UHLC) Career Development Office (CDO) invites employers at multi-national law firms that recruit for summer associate positions or who participate in our On-Campus Interview Program (OCI) to campus to network with our talented students. Students attend this event to learn about the employers, their practices, and their recruiting cycles before the upcoming recruiting season and employers get a first look at rising talent.

Who can participate in the UHLC 1L Recruiting Showcase ?

The UHLC 1L Recruiting Showcase is open to all current first-year (1L) JD students. Employers participating in the UHLC 1L Recruiting Showcase reception speak to students about their organization and any law clerk, summer associate, and attorney positions they will be recruiting for in the upcoming OCI session or recruiting season.  Additionally, the event is an opportunity to expose UHLC students to the varied opportunities available in a variety of employment experiences in private practice, from large firms to solo practices; in federal, state and local government agencies; in corporations and businesses; and in non-profit organizations.

What is the format of the UHLC 1L Recruiting Showcase ?

Below are the pertinent details for this year’s showcase:

• What: UHLC 1L Recruiting Showcase
• When: Friday, October 18, 2024
• Time: 3:30 – 6:30 pm
• Where: The Foundation Room in the John M. O’Quinn Law Building
• Cost: FREE!
• Registration: Registration opens in Symplicity in September 2024.  Employers will receive an email once registration is open.
• Format: Students attend the reception dressed in business attire. No resumes or application materials will be distributed at the event. Employer representatives are placed at tables designated by the organization’s name and students speak with the employer representatives about their organization and industry.

How do I register for the UHLC 1L Recruiting Showcase ?

1. Log into your Symplicity account
2. From the Home screen, please select the Events tab.
3. Click the “Career Fairs”.
4. Select “Sign up” for “UHLC 1L Recruiting Showcase ” to complete the registration form.
5. Select “Confirm” to complete the registration.
6. You will receive an email once your registration has been approved.
