The Hispanic Law Alumni group was recently established in order to create a place for Hispanic law alumni to network, learn together, and enjoy group events, as well as support the school’s efforts to recruit minority students and promote diversity within the Law Center.
A steering committee is forming to develop additional plans for the HLA and activities for the coming year. For information on how to join, please contact lawalumni@uh.edu or 713-743-2201.
The inaugural Hispanic Law Alumni virtual event took place on July 1, 2020, as a symposium hosted by Dean Leonard Bayes and Prof. Sandra Guerra Thompson, introducing the two recently hired Hispanic faculty members, Elizabeth Trujillo and Daniel Morales. The discussions highlighted their areas of expertise, which include international trade, human rights, immigration, and policy issues surrounding the social justice and economic impacts of discrimination of the Latino community in the US. The final portion of the event included a virtual networking session for the alumni and current law students who attended.
