Texas Governor Reappoints UH Law Alumna Nelda Luce Blair to Public Safety Commission

University of Houston Law Center alumna Nelda Luce Blair (J.D. ’82) has been reappointed to the Texas Public Safety Commission, continuing to serve through 2032.
March 30, 2026—Gov. Greg Abbott recently reappointed University of Houston Law Center alumna Nelda Luce Blair (J.D. ’82) to the Public Safety Commission for a term ending January 1, 2032. Blair was originally appointed in January 2020.
The five-member commission oversees the Texas Department of Public Safety.
Blair brings decades of legal, civic and public service experience to the role. A fifth-generation Texan, she is a triple board-certified real estate attorney and chief executive officer of The Blair Law Firm P.C. She has previously served as a gubernatorial appointee to the Texas Economic Development Corporation “Texas One” Board, as chairwoman of the UH Board of Regents as chair, and as a member of the Stephen F. Austin State University Board of Regents.
She is also a licensed realtor and serves as president of the Conroe ISD Education Foundation and the Human Society of Montgomery County.
She received her J.D. from the UH Law Center and earned her bachelor’s degree from Baylor University.
