April 19, 2021 – After recently being named partner at the Provost Umphrey Law Firm, LLP, Fabiana Baum, a 2016 alumna of the University of Houston Law Center, said she feels a deeper sense of dedication to advocating for clients in immigration and personal injury law.
“What keeps me dedicated and passionate about civil trial work, is the fact that most of the time I represent the little guy,” Baum said. “I know how important it is for my client to feel heard, and how I handle the case to best protect their interest keeps me motivated.”
Baum, who primarily practices in Harris County and Jefferson County, was also recently selected by her peers as “Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch,” an award recognizing up-and-coming attorneys in private practice that demonstrate promising careers.
“If I can master my communication with the jury by keeping my passion controlled and the message simple in a way that makes sense to a jury, I can succeed,” Baum said. “I want to be able to open a door that no one else has opened, master my ability to keep it simple, overcome language barriers, and make it more accessible for others.”
Baum speaks four languages, is a mother of three children, and is actively involved in the Southeast Texas’ Hispanic Proactive Coalition, League of United Latin American Citizens and a member of American Immigration Lawyers Association and the Texas Trial Lawyers Association.
“The University of Houston Law Center is a great school,” Baum said. “The school, the methodology, the way they prepare students to do their own research, find out their own answers and promote problem solving is amazing. If it wasn’t for the Law Center, I have no doubt that I wouldn’t be here.”
