Oct. 21, 2019 - University of Houston Law Center alumna Samira Alimohammad ‘03 has been promoted to vice president of Specialist Staffing Solutions, Inc., the U.S. subsidiary of SThree Plc (“SThree”) - a company composed of specialized recruitment brands centered around STEM fields.

Alimohammad’s new role will be in addition to her responsibilities as general counsel

“Becoming vice president means my contributions as a business partner are as valued as my legal contributions,” Alimohammad said. “I’ve been in the staffing industry for over 10 years and I feel like I can now add commercial value and be an integral part of a massively growing business.”

As vice president, Alimohammad hopes to strategically focus on the legal and compliance functions of SThree while increasing business profits.

“I think growth and sustainability go hand-in-hand with legal compliance,” she said. “You cannot have a profitable and sustainable business without having a compliant one.”

As an attorney from an underrepresented background in the legal field, Alimohammad feels that diversity in the workplace contributes to increased problem-solving abilities, which she considers vital in the legal field.

“I work for a global company, headquartered in the U.K. with offices in 16 countries, so diversity and inclusion are key,” she said. “We all work with individuals from diverse backgrounds and that diversity not only increases productivity, but also increases innovation and outside-of-the-box thinking.”

Alimohammad cited the teaching of George Butler Research Professor of Law Meredith Duncan for having a significant impact on her.

“She made a lasting impression on me,” Alimohammad said. “She was a tough professor and had high expectations for her class. Due to her expectations, I learned to be prepared, resilient and focused. These traits have helped me be successful in my career.”
