Nov. 9 – Bill Jackson ’92, University of Houston Law Center alumnus and former
UH Law Alumni Association President has had a string of recent successes at the helm of Jackson Gilmour & Dobbs, PC. In recognition for its environmental litigation practice, the firm earned the title of 2015 “Texas Lawyer Litigation Group of the Year.” Members of the firm accepted the award at a dinner in Dallas on Oct. 22.
“We have been fortunate to have the opportunity to work on the most significant environmental matters in the country, from the Passaic River matter in New Jersey to representing the State of Louisiana in the Deepwater Horizon oil spill. The Texas Lawyer award recognized the results we achieved for our clients in some of those matters over the last year, and we were honored to receive that recognition,” said Jackson. “Due to our track record generating these kinds of results in incredibly complex and contentious litigation, we are building one of the preeminent energy and environmental practices in the country, bar none,” Jackson said.
Among the firm’s successes noted by the Texas Lawyer, Jackson Gilmour & Dobbs, PC obtained a $355 million cash settlement for the State of New Jersey on the Passaic River matter. Texas Lawyer quoted Jackson as saying “the settlement made New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection v. Occidental Chemical the largest environmental cost-recovery case in the history of New Jersey and the single largest economic damages recovery of its kind.”
