Nov. 17, 2014 -- A dedicated scholar since his years at the University of Houston Law Center, Christopher H. Meakin has taken his interest in business law to the classrooms of three Texas universities.
Meakin began his teaching career as an adjunct professor at UHLC where he taught legal research and writing. He later taught legal process and ethics at Rice University in its MBA program. He is now a senior lecturer at McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas and former assistant dean of the MBA program.
“The University of Houston Law Center was the spring board to my subsequent career due to the great classroom instruction and wonderful fellow students,” said Meakin.
His students describe him on the Internet site “Rate My Professor,” as an “interested, smart and professional educator,” traits that have earned him high achievement honors at UT, including the Outstanding Faculty Award, Faculty Honor Roll and Eyes of Texas Award for Excellence in Service.
Meakin earned a joint J.D. and M.A in legal history from UH Law Center and Rice University. He has also practiced with Vinson & Elkins, clerked for Judge Lynn N. Hughes in the U.S. South Texas District Court, and served as vice president and general counsel for a start-up company.
