July 16, 2014 -- Curtis L. Harrington ’83, a high tech patent and tax law practitioner, has been confirmed as chairman of the State Bar of California’s Board of Legal Specialization. The board administers the specialization program supported by 11 commissions, one for each of the state’s recognized areas of specialization.
Harrington, whose practice, Harrington & Harrington is located in Long Beach, has prepared and prosecuted more than 100 patents in electrical and chemical technologies. His specialty areas include optics, fiber optics, electromagnetics, cryogenics, natural gas processing and computers, as well as extensive trademark and copyright preparation and prosecution. He also prepares high technology patent, trademark and copyright applications and legal research and advises clients on tax issues as they establish new technology businesses. He is a certified tax law specialist.
In addition to his J.D. from the University of Houston Law Center, Harrington holds an LL.M. in Taxation from the University of San Diego School of Law (1997), master’s degrees in electrical and chemical engineering and an M.B.A.
