Jarvis Hollingsworth '93 spotlighted at UHLC Gala

Regent cited for commitment to University and Law Center.

Jarvis HollingsworthJarvis V. Hollingsworth '93, a University of Houston regent and partner in the firm of Bracewell & Giuliani, was honored at the Law Center's 37th Annual Gala for his support and commitment to the university and law school. He is the Law Gala's first honoree.

Hollingsworth currently serves as vice-chairman of the UH System board, chairman of the Finance Committee and vice-chairman of the endowment committee.

Hollingsworth has been honored previously by the University with the Black Alumni Association's Distinguished Alumni Award and the Law Alumni Association's Private Sector Achievement Award. He is a former director of the University of Houston Alumni Association.

In his law practice, Hollingsworth counsels boards of directors/trustees of public and private companies and government and educational entities on their duties, corporate governance and director liability matters. He also advises clients on Sarbanes Oxley and Dodd Frank compliance and serves as the corporate secretary to boards of directors.

Head of the firm's public entities practice group, Hollingsworth also advises clients on public and education law, as well as government strategies, employment contracts, grievances, employee terminations, school and college governance, coalition building, strategic communications and policy development. He provides counsel on open meetings, public information, bidding and contract matters, municipal bonds and public finance, and internal investigations. Hollingsworth represents clients in state and federal courts and before administrative agencies.
