June 25, 2026 — University of Houston Law Center graduate Cailley Vaughan (J.D. ’06) has been selected for an Academic All-American Trial Advocates Award by the National Association of Legal Advocacy Educators (NALAE).

UH Law Center Student Matthew Nieto Wins $10K Scholarship for AI- Energy Law Research
June 4, 2026—University of Houston Law Center second-year student Matthew earned the Susan L. Bickley Memorial Scholarship (formerly known as the Environment, Energy & Natural Resources Center Student Scholarship Award) for his paper, “Algorithmic Power: Same Game, Faster Tempo.” His work examines how AI is reshaping wholesale electricity markets and highlights the legal challenges of regulating emerging technologies while preserving fairness, accountability, and grid reliability.

From Law School to Lifelong Partnership: UH Law Couple Prepares for Next Chapter
MAY. 13, 2026—Emma Jenny and Tanner Shae arrived at the University of Houston Law Center from opposite corners of the country: Jenny from Hau’ula, Hawai’i, on the island of O’ahu, and Shae from Fort Lauderdale, Florida — but they found a lasting connection in the John M. O’Quinn Law Building on the UH campus.

UH Law Center Celebrates Its First Skadden Fellow Carola Aisenberg
Jan. 21, 2026—University of Houston Law Center third-year student Carola Aisenberg has been awarded the highly prestigious Skadden Fellowship, one of the nation’s most competitive, public interest fellowships. Aisenberg, the first UHLC student to receive this honor, is one of 34 fellows selected from 20 law schools nationwide. They will each pursue projects to address unmet civil needs for people living in poverty in the United States.

Nov. 13, 2025 – University of Houston Law Center second-year student Jahnavi Arun has been awarded the Michael F. Anthony Health Law Scholarship by the American Health Law Association. The national scholarship recognizes law students who have demonstrated exceptional academic achievement and a strong commitment to advancing health law.

UHLC student Grayem publishes wind rights article in Texas Lawyer
April 23, 2024 — University of Houston Law Center student Hannah Grayem was featured in Texas Lawyer for an article on the severability of wind rights. Such rights were recently recognized for the first time under Texas law. Grayem co-authored the piece titled “Are Wind Rights A New Stick in the Bundle?” during her summer associate placement at King & Spalding.

March 19, 2024 — The Houston Law Review has elected Sofia Winograd as Editor-in-Chief. The Mexico City native will be the first Latina Editor-in-Chief in the publication’s 60-year history.

UHLC student Mackay shares journey from decorated Green Beret to law school
March 5, 2024 – Roger Mackay served in the army as a Green Beret for almost a decade and received the Bronze Star. After his military service, he decided to pursue a career as an attorney and enrolled in law school.
