Lawyering Skills and Strategies
Whitney Heard is a Clinical Professor of Lawyering Skills and Strategies. In addition to teaching the first-year legal research and writing courses, she has taught an introductory legal research and writing class for Foreign LL.M. students, a scholarly writing seminar for Foreign LL.M. students, and a legal research and writing tutorial for J.D. students. Professor Heard is also the Faculty Director for the student-staffed Legal Writing Center.
Professor Heard graduated summa cum laude with her B.A. in Speech Communication from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and graduated cum laude with her J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center. While at Georgetown, she served as a teaching fellow in the legal research and writing department and worked as a law student advocate in the Family Advocacy Clinic. After graduating from law school, Professor Heard was admitted to the Illinois bar and worked as a litigation associate in the Chicago office of Kirkland & Ellis LLP. Before joining the Law Center in 2007, she served as a law clerk for the Honorable Marcia A. Crone in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Texas.
