Professor Oldham joined the University of Houston Law Center faculty in 1980. He has taught family law and Texas marital property rights for more than 30 years and authored three textbooks and numerous articles in those fields. His work has been cited in more than 50 appellate case opinions, including the U.S. Supreme Court and the supreme courts of 14 states.
Oldham is a member of the American Law Institute. He has been chair of the AALS Family Law Section and is a member of the Board of Editors for the American Bar Association, Family Law Quarterly.
He was selected as a Fulbright Senior Scholar to visit the University of Sydney and Australia National University in the fall of 2015 and has served as a visiting professor of law at Colorado, Cambridge and George Washington law schools. The University of Houston honored him in 2000 with its Excellence in Research and Scholarship Award.
