June 23, 2023 — The University of Houston Law Center celebrated its graduates and its accomplishments during the 2023 Law Alumni Association Annual Meeting & Celebration held recently in The John M. O’Quinn Law Building.
Dean Leonard M. Baynes highlighted numerous Law Center faculty, alumni, staff, and student achievements and events within the past year, including the 2023 Commencement Ceremony, accolades from preLaw magazine, top program rankings from U.S. News & World Report, faculty scholarly achievements and other milestones.
There was also a ceremonial passing of the gavel between UH Law Alumni Association president Alex Roberts ‘06, a partner at Beck Redden, and president-elect Kris Thomas ‘83, who served as a career clerk for the U.S. Courts with a focus on bankruptcy. “I am humbled and excited to serve the Law Center as the incoming president of the UH Law Alumni Association. UH Law Center has had a huge impact on my life. I cherish the friends I made as a student and am grateful for the opportunities opened to me as a graduate,” Thomas said. “I am looking forward to working with Law Center staff to broaden engagement between the Law Center and fellow alumni and to strengthen our scholarship base so that the school continues to produce the most esteemed lawyers practicing today.”
