Sept. 30, 2025 — The National Jurist, a leading news source focused on legal education, has awarded the University of Houston Law Center an “A” in its latest Best Schools for Law Firm Employment rankings.
UHLC was one of 12 law schools nationwide out of almost 200 law schools, and one of three in Texas, to receive an “A” from the National Jurist. This distinction reflects UH Law Center’s strong track record of preparing graduates for successful careers in law firms of all sizes and helping students and graduates with career development.
“At the University of Houston Law Center, our mission is to equip students not only with legal knowledge, but also the skills, connections, and mentorship that leads to long-term success,” said UH Law Dean Leonard M. Baynes. “This recognition from the National Jurist reflects the dedication of our faculty, staff, and alumni in preparing our students to excel in a competitive legal profession.”
National Jurist awarded the grade based on three criteria: the three-year average for law firm employment, the salary average, and the percentage of alumni recognized as Super Lawyers. The Super Lawyer status is based on the individual lawyer's professional performance and only contains the top 5% of lawyers in each state.
In addition to recognition from National Jurist, UH Law Center also ranks as the #29 “Go-To Law School” in the U.S. according to Law.com’s annual ranking of law schools whose graduates are hired as associates by the top 100 law firms in the nation; #28 in “Career Employment Opportunities” section of the 2024 Princeton Review Law School Rankings and is ranked #30 in “Law Schools with Most Grads at Big Law Firms” by the 2025 U.S. News and World Report. According to the Law Center’s Career Development Office, 96% of the UHLC Class of 2024 is employed, with many graduates launching careers at leading law firms in Houston and beyond.
