Course Outline: This course covers English law from the twelfth to the eighteenth century. Content coverage is primarily property, contracts, torts, civil procedure and courts, and the growth of individual rights. In that coverage, emphasis is on the relationship between law and society, the conceptualization of successive legal systems in the Anglo-American legal tradition, and the reasons why legal doctrines and structures changed. Grades will be determined by a final test.
