Course Outline: Almost every commercial and non-commercial transaction involves payment. The law of payment systems covers everything from a consumer using a check, a debit card, or a credit card, to a large corporation arranging for payment of a multi-million dollar purchase by means of a wire transfer of funds. This three-hour course examines and compares the allocation of risks by the check system, the credit card system, the debit card system, the wire transfer system, and the automated clearing house (ACH) system.
