Course Outline: The course will address the nature, sources and evidences of international law; incorporation of international law into U.S. legal processes (including direct and indirect incorporation and incorporation by reference for civil and criminal sanctions; limitations on and enhancement of congressional and executive power; international agreements and customary law in U.S. legal processes; litigation of human rights; conflicts with federal statutes; and supremacy); jurisdiction under international law (both prescriptive and enforcement); foreign sovereign immunity, the act of state doctrine, and nonimmunity; and current events implicating international law.
