John Mixon

JMixon@central.uh.edu 713.743.2154 Professor Mixon specializes in real property, land finance, zoning law, and Jurisprudence. He received teaching excellence awards from the University of Houston in 1974, from Order of the Barons in 1980, 1985, 1994, and 1995, and from the Student Bar in 1988, 1989, and 1990. A Law Center faculty member since 1955, Professor Mixon also taught as a lecturer at Rice University School of Architecture for twenty years. He has been visiting professor at Northwestern University, Hofstra University, the University of San Diego and Southern Methodist University. He was a Sterling fellow at Yale University 1961-62. Professor Mixon is author of Texas Municipal Zoning Law (1985) and the co-author of Principles of Environmental Management for Local Governments and Texas Land Use.
