Tara Kelly is litigation counsel at BP in Houston and manages cases related to the Deepwater Horizon incident and response. Prior to joining BP in the summer of 2011, she was counsel at King & Spalding in Houston, where she specialized in environmental litigation, and an associate at Dechert in Princeton, New Jersey, specializing in products liability litigation. She graduated cum laude from the New York University Law School in 2000. She also has a M.A. in Literature from the American University and a B.A. in philosophy from Stockton State College in Pomona, New Jersey. She has spoken, conducted webinars, and written on subjects including social media, toxic torts, and Medicare laws affecting tort settlements. In 2013, she published “Your Questions Answered about the Medicare, Medicaid and SCHIP Extension Act,” with Thompson Reuters and is working on an update of that publication to be released in 2014. She is active in community organizations focused on sustainability and the arts, including Friends of Mandell Park (Board Member); DiverseWorks (Board Member); and Blackwood Land Institute (Board Member). She is a graduate of Leadership Houston, Class XXX.
