Generously supported by the University of Houston’s Provost’s Office, the UH Cougar Law Program was created to increase the quality of applications from University of Houston students to the University of Houston Law Center and to prepare them for the rigors and demands of law school.
The UH Cougar Law Program’s goals focus on preparing University of Houston students for success at the University of Houston Law Center by introducing students to the law school experience, developing their personal and professional skills, exposing them to networking opportunities, and building a strong law school application by creating and finalizing the student's resume, personal statement and/or diversity statement for submission to law school.
To be considered for the UH Cougar Law Program, students must be current students or recent graduates of the University of Houston and should be committed to attending the University of Houston Law Center. Students must hold a cumulative grade point average of 3.6 or better, must have completed over 85 college credits from the University of Houston by June of the year that the student is applying for admission to the program. Students should also have scored within the top 85th percentile on the SAT or ACT.
Accepted students will be immersed in a rigorous eight-week program where they will be able to receive the necessary skills to prepare them for their law school admission and law school journey. These students will participate in eight weeks of instruction and application prep including introductory law school classes, legal writing, and trial advocacy, taught by law school faculty, and resume, personal statement and diversity statement workshops. At the end of this program, students will have near-final personal statements and/or diversity statements, resumes, and a better understanding of the law school and the UHLC admissions process.

The cost to attend the online program is $600 which includes a $200 seat deposit. Payment plans are available to all students. Students desiring a payment plan option must request to be enrolled in one before their deposit is collected. The deadline for all applications is March 1, 2023. After March 1, we will continue to accept and review applications on a rolling basis. If you have already been accepted to the University of Houston Law Center for Fall 2023, and would like to enroll in this program, please let us know before starting the application at uhprelaw@central.uh.edu.
