            Alumni Events & Notable Lectures

            UH Law Center presents the Justice Ruby Kless Sondock Lectureship in Legal Ethics program several times
            a semester, which brings sitting jurists to campus for a day of interaction with students, faculty, and the
            Houston legal community.

            The Law Center also hosts the annual Black History Month Lecture and the Yale L. Rosenberg Memorial
            Lecture, which bring distinguished speakers to campus.

            Speakers in the Black History Month Lecture have included Georgetown Law Professor Paul Butler, Harvard
            Law School Professor Annette Gordon-Reed, St. John’s University School of Law Professor Cheryl Wade,
            and Andrea Young, a former professor of practice at the Andrew Young School of Policy Studies at Georgia
            State University, and current executive director of ACLU Georgia.

            The Rosenberg Lecture has featured former NAACP President and CEO Cornell William Brooks, Law Center
            Professor Renee Knake, Professor Gabriel “Jack” Chin of the UC Davis School of Law, and Professor Tanya
            Katerí Hernández of the Fordham University School of Law.

            In 2017, the Texas Supreme Court held oral arguments at the Law Center. U.S. Associate Supreme Court
            Justice Sonia Sotomayor visited the Law Center in 2018 for a fireside chat with Professor Michael A.
            Olivas. Brandeis University Professor and civil rights activist Anita Hill spoke at the Law Center in 2019.
            Also in 2019, Vice President & General Counsel Randall Ebner of ExxonMobil Corp. was the Dean’s
            Distinguished Speaker.
