The driving force behind the program is a shared Professor of Law, were recommended for the
commitment to natural resource, energy, and
environmental law. For the past three years, the
two schools, with the support of the law firm of
Blank Rome LLP, have sponsored a symposium on
the environment, energy, and natural resources
for oil and gas professionals from the U.S., Mexico,
and Canada. The two-day event draws experts
from government, academia, and the private
sector to discuss problems and solutions in energy
production and distribution. They also have hosted
a faculty workshop to discuss these issues.
Four members of the Law Center faculty have
been competitively selected to participate in the
Fulbright Scholars Program, with two spending the
Spring ’19 semester studying abroad, conducting
research, writing, and lecturing in their areas of
expertise.
Renee Knake, the Joanne and Larry Doherty
Chair in Legal Ethics and director of Outcomes
and Assessments, was awarded the Fulbright
Distinguished Chair in Entrepreneurship and
Innovation at the Royal Melbourne Institute of
Technology in Australia.
Law Foundation Professor of Law and Co-Director
of the Institute for Intellectual Property and
Information Law Sapna Kumar, was selected as a
Fulbright-Schuman Research Scholar and awarded
an innovation grant. She spent five months in
Europe, including four at the Max Planck Institute for
Innovation and Competition in Munich, Germany.
Dean and Professor of Law Leonard M. Baynes and
Professor Thomas Oldham, the John H. Freeman
Fulbright Specialist Roster 2016 - 21. Specialists
are chosen for their knowledge, skills, and ability
to contribute to projects at their host institutions
abroad. Oldham was previously selected as a
Fulbright Senior Scholar to visit the University of
Sydney and Australia National University in the fall
of 2015.
The Law Center also has added three faculty
members to bolster the curriculum in immigration
and international law and policy.
Associate Professor of Law and Political Science
Zachary Daniel Kaufman is a Yale Law School
graduate with a Ph.D. from Oxford who will
teach courses in International Law. His primary
appointment is with the Law Center.
Associate Professor of Law and George A. Butler
Research Professor Daniel Ibsen Morales is a Yale
Law School graduate who will teach Immigration
Law, “Crimmigration,” and Latinos and the Law.
Elizabeth Trujillo is the Mary Ann & Lawrence
E. Faust Professor of Law and founder of the
Law Center’s Initiative on Global Law and Policy
for the Americas. She also will teach Contracts,
International Trade, NAFTA, Trade, Investment,
and Development, Trends in International Law,
and Sustainable Development. She was awarded
the Alexander von Humboldt Research Fellowship
Grant to complete her book on international
trade and sustainable development and continue
her work with the Max Planck Institute for
Comparative Public Law and International Law in
Heidelberg, Germany.
