ORDER OF THE BARRISTERS
The Order of the Barristers is a national honorary organization
that encourages the development of oral advocacy and legal
writing skills through effective law school moot court, mock
trial, and ADR programs. The Order also serves to recognize, on
a national basis, graduating law students who have excelled in
advocacy activities in their respective law schools. Martindale-
Hubbell acknowledges membership in the Order by listing the
distinction in a lawyer’s biography – one of the few scholastic
honors that rates such a mention.
Applicants must be graduating 3Ls. To be eligible, a student
must have competed in a minimum of three intra-scholastic and/
or inter-scholastic competitions, and it is important to note that
our Order also considers service and professionalism as a part of
the selection process. The National Office allocates 10 Barrister
slots to UHLC each year.
