President's Notes

Summer 2011

As we head into summer, we are transitioning into a new year for the University of Houston Law Alumni Association. Before we start looking forward, however, I want to take this opportunity to simply thank those that made the 2010-2011 year such a great success for UHLAA and the Law Center.

There are countless volunteers, committee members, committee chairs, board members, and staff who have helped shape UHLAA and who have had a tremendous impact on the alumni, students and faculty of the University of Houston Law Center over the last year. I would like to thank you all for your efforts and dedication. I hope that we can count on you again this year!

Most of all, I would like to thank the past president of UHLAA, my friend and colleague Warren Harris, for his many years of service to the Law Alumni Association, the board, and the Law Center. Warren has done a tremendous job organizing and reshaping the Association and leading the board as we work to ensure that UHLAA is fulfilling its mission of service to the school, alumni, students, and faculty. Thank you Warren for your years of exemplary service.

The 2011-2012 UH Law Alumni Association Board looks forward to building on the great legacy that the prior board leaves for us. We are in the midst of planning our activities for the coming school year. We will be sending additional information on upcoming events soon, but I ask that you please mark your calendars now for these important dates:

• UHLC Reception at State Bar of Texas Annual Meeting – Thursday, June 23 - Grand Hyatt, San Antonio 5:30 – 7:00 p.m.
• Reunion Weekend 2011 – Friday, Nov. 18 and Saturday, Nov. 19 – Houston. All classes that end in a 1 and 6 from 1961 through 2006 will have the opportunity to reunite with their friends and classmates through a variety of on- and off-campus events.
• Holiday Coffee – Saturday, Dec. 3 – UHLC 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
• 36th Annual Law Gala and Auction – Saturday, March 31, 2012 - Intercontinental Hotel, Houston.
