Course Outline: Students will represent clients in the following civil practice areas: family (including domestic violence, divorce and custody), probate, guardianships, bankruptcy and landlord/tenant. Representation will include court/trial appearances, mediation, negotiation, document drafting and case investigation.

Students should not attempt to enroll themselves in these courses via PeopleSoft: if you’re accepted, the Clinic Program Manager will enroll you via the Office of Student Services.
The Civil Practice Clinic has a classroom component that meets for 3.0 hours a week over the course of the semester.
Students must work in the Clinic 50 hours per course credit hour.

Course Notes: HyFlex The instructor for this course has expressed a preference to teach in a physical classroom.The extent to which that room will be used during the semester is up to the instructor and may vary during the semester. When the classroom is used by an instructor, those class sessions will be operated in “HyFlex” mode: remote presence is available to any student via internet videoconferencing, and recordings will be available when material is general and not prohibited from recording by client confidentiality. More details should be made available from the instructor via their syllabus or via other means as the start of the semester nears.

Accepted students must attend a mandatory 2 ½ day orientation held from Wednesday to Friday before the first day of school. A Clinic student group picture will be taken during orientation. Students will receive a separate email with additional information.
