Course Areas: Intellectual Property and Information Law

Course Outline: This course covers international intellectual property ("IP") law from the following perspectives: (i) private international IP law (ii) public international IP law, such as under multilateral treaties, and (iii) comparative aspects of IP law among the major trading countries or regions of the world. The course is designed to introduce students to key international IP issues, principles and policy questions. Although it will cover several areas of IP law, it will focus more heavily on patents.

Course Notes: Professor Kumar will approve on a case-by-case basis a student taking the class remotely via Zoom, if a conflict prevents the student from otherwise taking the class. Contact Professor Kumar for more details.
Prerequisites: Although this course has no formal prerequisites, IP Survey, Copyright Law, or Patent Law is helpful.
