UH Law Center to offer COVID-19 vaccination opportunities; faculty and staff encourage safety measures

Aug. 17, 2021 - The University of Houston Law Center will host two COVID-19 vaccination clinics from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. on Aug. 25 and Aug. 26 in Room 205 of Teaching Unit II. Health professionals will administer the first shot of the Pfizer vaccine as well as a flu shot. The second vaccination shot will be scheduled at a later date, or can be received at a local Walgreens pharmacy.

Additionally, members of the Law Center's faculty and staff have signed a statement in support of vaccination and the use of facial coverings on campus to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and its numerous variants.

The statement reads:

We the undersigned faculty and staff at the University of Houston Law Center are concerned about the community spread of the Delta variant of the COVID-19 coronavirus in Harris County, the State of Texas, and the nation and most specifically the impact of its potential spread among the Law Center community of students, faculty, staff, and those they love.

We have joined unanimously to issue this statement:

The COVID-19 coronavirus is dangerous, and the delta variant is easily transmissible especially in indoor settings. As members of the University of Houston Law Center community, we each have a responsibility and duty to keep each other safe. The data suggest that vaccination remains the best intervention for reliable protection. As such, we urge all members of our community who are not vaccinated to get vaccinated as soon as possible. We also urge you to wear a face covering while on the Law Center campus especially while in the classroom. By working together and following these steps, we can keep each other safer and beat back the virus and all its iterations.
