June 4, 2021 - The last beams were placed on the University of Houston Law Center's new state-of-the-art John M. O'Quinn Law Building during a recent "topping off" ceremony.
Attendees included Dean Leonard M. Baynes, the architects, UH facilities, planning and construction group, and the contractors who worked diligently to achieve the building’s substantial progress.
“I am so pleased that the contractors have made so much progress in light of the pandemic,” Baynes said. “In fact, they're 38 days ahead of schedule which is absolutely amazing. We thank them for their hard work.
“Many thanks to our very generous donors especially The John M. O’Quinn Foundation, our Cornerstone Club members, our alumni, the state legislature, and President Renu Khator. Without their philanthropic support this dream would not have become a reality.”
“It's wonderful to see our dreams become a reality, to see the renderings and drawings on paper come alive. It's a major step in the right direction for us to be even more engaged in the greater Houston community.”
Shepley Bulfinch served as the architecture firm for The John M. O'Quinn Law Building, and Austin Commercial is responsible for the construction of the facility. The building is expected to be open for the Fall 2022 semester.
