UH Law Center hosts US Supreme Court update Aug. 9  

Aug. 1, 2019 — University of Houston Law Center professors and local attorneys will review recent U.S. Supreme Court decisions in a Continuing Legal Education program Aug. 9 at the Law Center.

Constitutional law experts will outline several cases from the court’s 2018-19 session and analyze the effect of each decision. Issues range from gerrymandering, antitrust and objectionable trademarks to double jeopardy and abortion.

Law Center participants include: Dean Leonard M. Baynes and Professors Emily Berman, Seth Chandler, David Dow, Peter Linzer and Sandra Guerra Thompson.

Other speakers include: George Secrest, Bennett & Secrest, PLLC; Ira Hatton, Greenberg Traurig, L.L.P.; Capt. Reginald McKamie, Law Office of Reginald E. McKamie, Sr., P.C.; James Patrick Cooney, Senior Counsel, Royston, Rayzor, Vickery & Williams L.L.P.; and James T. Brown, Holman Fenwick Willan, USA L.L.P.

The free program is 12:30 – 4:00 p.m., Friday, Aug. 9, in room 144 BLB at the Law Center, 4604 Calhoun Road. Attorneys will earn 3.75 hours of Texas CLE credit, including .5 hour of Ethics credit.
