June 27, 2016 - The American Public Health Association's Law Section is honoring University of Houston Law Center Research Professor Allison N. Winnike
Winnike, research director of the Law Center's Health Law & Policy Institute, will be the 2016 recipient of the APHA's Early Career Award for Excellence in Public Health Law.
"It is an immense honor to be recognized by my colleagues in the APHA Law Section for my contributions to the field of public health law," said Winnike. "The Law Section is comprised of distinguished public health law scholars and practitioners and it is a privilege to be part of this collaborative and nurturing community."
The APHA said the accolade is, "given annually to an individual who demonstrates great promise as a future leader in the field of public health law."
The award will be presented to Winnike at a ceremony on Oct. 31 in Denver during the APHA's 2016 Annual Meeting & Expo. The APHA Annual Meeting is the largest public health conference in the world, with more than 12,000 public health professionals discussing emerging public health issues and trends.
"As director of the Health Law & Policy Institute, I am delighted that the APHA is recognizing Allison's work in public health law with an Early Career Award for Excellence," said Jessica Roberts, director of the Health Law & Policy Institute at the Law Center. "Allison is part of our nationally recognized team of leading scholars and advocates in health law."
