Feb. 21, 2022–– Michigan State University Professor of Economics and International Relations Dr. Lisa D. Cook presented the 2022 Bracewell Distinguished Lecture in Racial and Social Justice at UH Law Center. The event was held virtually on Feb. 16 as part of Black History Month. It was co-sponsored by UH C.T. Bauer College of Business, UH Hobby School of Public Affairs, UH College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, and UH Cullen College of Engineering.
Professor Cook spoke on the topic of “Societal Discrimination’s Impact on African American Innovation, Invention, and Impact.”
President Joe Biden has recently nominated Dr. Cook to the Federal Reserve Board of Governors. If confirmed, she will be the first African American women to serve in that capacity since the board’s inception 108 years ago.
The event was moderated by UH Law Center Dean Leonard M. Baynes.
