UH Law Center alumnus Cody '90 details his ascent to managing partner of global law firm

April 19, 2021 - After spending the majority of his career as a litigator, Jeff Cody, who now serves as a national managing partner at Norton Rose Fulbright, said his career transition happened organically. Cody, a 1990 alumnus of the University of Houston Law enter, was a recent speaker at a "Lunch with a Lawyer" event hosted by the Career Development Office. Dean Leonard M. Baynes moderated the discussion.

For young attorneys who have aspirations of administrative and management opportunities, Cody recommended following your interests.

"It was an unlikely road for me, but I've been able to re-invent myself professionally," Cody said. "I don't practice much anymore, and this role has allowed me to do different things. At this point in my career it's very exciting to have a new challenge.

"It happened organically, but it starts with demonstrating leadership, and that you can work well in groups."

The Career Development Office hosts Lunch with a Lawyer and Dinner with a Lawyer events, which allows attorneys to have candid conversations with student and recent alumni about their practice areas and employer environments.
