April 5, 2021 - The University of Houston Law Center's communications and marketing department earned top honors in three categories as part of the 2020 Collegiate Advertising Awards, which honor excellence in marketing and advertising specific to the field of higher education.
The Law Center was recognized in the following categories:
"I am excited for the three gold awards which represent the diverse talents and hard work of the Law Center's communications and marketing team," said Carrie Criado, assistant dean of communications and marketing. "We also share these awards with Dean Leonard M. Baynes who played an integral role in shaping the direction of our Black Lawyers Matter Conference marketing and who served as host of our Briefcase podcast series."
The Black Lawyers Matter Conference was held on Oct. 30, 2020. The day-long virtual event was co-convened with the SMU Dedman School of Law, and more than 1,000 people were in attendance. The “More Than a Law School” social media campaign was created by web developers Baroness Adams and Ruth McCleskey.
Dean Leonard M. Baynes hosted the winning podcast episode of “Briefcase: Humanities and the Law,” which featured Robert F. Barsky, Professor and Canada Research Chair In Law, Narrative, and Border Crossing at Carleton University in Ottawa, Ontario. Amanda Orr, a Houston-based journalist and communications specialist, assisted in the production of the episode.
The Law Center's marketing and communications team includes:
