UH Law Center conducts first monthly faculty meeting via video conference

For the first time in the history of the University of Houston Law Center's history, a complete faculty meeting was conducted virtually last week.

April 7, 2020 - University of Houston Law Center administrators, faculty and staff gathered virtually last Friday for the school’s first regularly scheduled faculty meeting via Zoom. A previous special session was held on March 27.

Among topics were discussed were the continuation of academic operations, faculty scholarship, recent changes in grading policy, and end-of-semester final exams.

"COVID-19 has thrusted us into the brave new world of online technology," said Dean Leonard M. Baynes. "Almost everything is online - classes, intra-office meetings, and even faculty meetings. I applaud the faculty for adjusting so quickly to this change and for having such a civil and productive meeting."

As the COVID-19 pandemic has shifted Law Center operations online, faculty members have quickly adjusted to video conferencing technology.

While not meeting in person, University of Houston Law Center faculty were still able to commemorate "Cougar Red Friday" in their most recent meeting.
