UH Law Center 2L Martinez to compete at BYU Law storytelling contest

Feb. 25, 2020 – Second-year University of Houston Law Center student Isabella C. Martinez has been named a finalist in the LawStories on the Mainstage competition. The yearly event, held at the Brigham Young University J. Reuben Clark Law School, will take place on March 12 in Provo, Utah.

Martinez will present her paper, "Making a Difference, Not Just a Living" during the Mainstage event and on a radio program.

"Isabella's compelling and personal story began as a class assignment for the Storytelling class and was submitted to the BYU Law School for their annual competition," said adjunct professor Jim Perdue Sr. '63 “Isabella's success is not only a tribute to her, but also the Law Center and Trial Advocacy Department."

"I am looking forward to the opportunity to present my story at BYU’s LawStories on the Mainstage," Martinez added. "It is an honor that my story was selected.

“I want to thank Professor Perdue as his class has been inspirational in emphasizing the importance of storytelling. I believe this experience will help me reach my ultimate goal of making a positive impact in people’s lives."
