Megan Rollag continued the University of Houston Law Center’s success at the recent Association of International Petroleum Negotiators Writing Competition.
Jan. 2, 2020 – Third-year University of Houston Law Center student Megan Rollag earned top honors in the 2019-2020 Association of International Petroleum Negotiators Writing Competition with her paper, “Future of Cross-Border Pipeline Projects in AMLO’s Mexico: What’s the Risk.”
The win marks three consecutive years where a Law Center student has won the competition.
"During my time at the Law Center, I discovered my passion for the practice of international oil and gas law," Rollag said. "A lot of my experience came from an externship at Mexico's National Hydrocarbons Commission and I have been able to work for several oil and gas companies following that experience.
"My paper was a product of my practical experience as well as what I have learned from classes provided by the Law Center. It is certainly a validating feeling that my paper was selected for the competition because it was a product of my passion."
Rollag’s paper is now eligible for submission to The Association of International Petroleum Negotiators official publication, the Journal of World Energy Law & Business. Rollag will be invited to attend either the association’s 2020 International Petroleum Summit in Bangkok or the Model Contracts Workshop in Rio de Janeiro in October 2020.
