LLM Guide ranks UH Law Center among nation’s top 10 budget programs

Karen Jones, executive director of Global and Graduate Programs

April 30, 2019 — The LL.M. program at the University of Houston Law Center is ranked among the nation’s top 10 “budget” programs by the LLM Guide, a reference for graduate programs worldwide.

The guidebook noted: “The school runs renowned specialty LL.M. programs in six subjects, including health law and intellectual property law and information law, (which are) ranked highly by U.S. News. The school is one of the most innovative in the world, according to a Financial Times ranking. Studying in Houston may be beneficial. America’s fourth-largest city is a leader in healthcare, energy and international business, so prospects for employment locally are expected to be good.”

“It is great to be recognized as a top 10 budget program; however this by no means should suggest low quality,” said Karen Jones, executive director of Global and Graduate Programs at the Law Center. “The LLM Guide has recognized what we at UHLC have always known and strive to achieve every day; a high-quality, top level education for our LL.M. students at a competitive price.

“We hope this new recognition will allow us to continue attracting domestic and foreign lawyers to our top-ranked programs and vibrant city.

In addition to Top 10 ranked LL.M. programs in Health Law and Energy, Environment and Natural Resources Law, the school offers LL.M. degrees in Intellectual Property Law, International Law, Tax Law, and U.S. Law for foreign lawyers.

The program is open to U.S. and foreign-trained attorneys. Current LL.M. enrollment of more than 50 Lawyers, includes 31 foreign attorneys from more than a dozen different countries.
