April 3, 2019 — University of Houston Law Center Professor of Practice Denney Wright will be taking his expertise in oil and gas tax law and international petroleum transactions abroad in August at the London School of Economics.

Wright ’93 LL.M. will serve as a guest lecturer in an international energy contracts law and negotiations course taught by Kristen van de Biezenbos, an assistant professor at the University of Calgary Faculty of Law, and an international cross-border corporate finance course taught by Bryce Tingle, an associate professor at the University of Calgary Faculty of Law.

“I am excited about the opportunity to discuss international tax issues and energy and natural resource deal structuring, joining the University of Calgary Law Faculty in a summer study abroad at the London School of Economics," Wright said.

“This program has been created for students who are interested in international finance and energy and natural resource transactions, and will provide exposure to the world of global finance and the global energy and natural resource business in London, one of the global centers for these activities.”

The Law Center and the University of Calgary Faculty of Law created the International Energy Lawyers Program in 2012. The initiative allows students to earn both American and Canadian law degrees in four years. Students spend two years at each school and take courses that will enable them to apply for admission to bars in the United States and Canada.
