UH Law Center student organization hosts Women's Week

March 25, 2019 - In an effort to highlight women leadership in the legal profession, the Association of Women in Law recently held Women's Week at the University of Houston Law Center.

The event consisted of three panel discussions with women from Big Law, public interest and government, corporate law, immigration law and family law.

Participants in the first panel included Katherine Andrews, senior counsel at LyondellBasell, Demetra Liggins, a partner at Thompson & Knight and Stefanie Moll, a partner at Morgan Lewis & Bockius. The talk was moderated by Sondra Tennessee, Associate Dean for Student Affairs.

Panelists for the second discussion were Jacklyn Varela, an attorney at JV Defense, Stephanie Marrone, a staff attorney at Beacon Law and Christina White, an attorney at the IRS Office of Chief Counsel. Janet Heppard, an associate professor of clinical practice and director of the Clinical Legal Education Program, was the moderator.

The final panel featured Kelly Cobb, a partner at corporate immigration firm Fragomen, Lauren Waddell, a partner at Fullenweider Wilhite and legal marketing consultant Stacey Burke, the owner of Stacey E. Burke, P.C. Clinical Assistant Professor Whitney Heard served as moderator.

Additional co-sponsors for the event were the Intellectual Property Student Organization, the Public Interest Law Organization and the Student Bar Association.
