UHLC to host workshop Feb. 1 on building a family law practice
Jan. 14, 2014 – Family law judges and practitioners will conduct a CLE workshop Feb. 1 for recent University of Houston Law Center graduates and upper level students who are interesting in developing a family law practice.
The workshop at the Law Center will address the practical and ethical challenges they will face: from finding and serving clients to developing and maintaining a successful practice. The program also aims to help guide these new lawyers to find ways to effectively deliver legal services to citizens whose legal needs traditionally have gone unmet.
A partial list of participants includes the Honorable Sheri Dean, 309th Judicial District, Family Law Court, Harris County; the Honorable Judy Warne, 257th Judicial District, Family Law Court, Harris County; Claudia Canales, Law Office of Claudia Canales, P.C.; Warren Cole, Law Office of Warren Cole; Reggie Hirsch, Law Office of Reginald A. Hirsch; and Tom Simchak, Law Office of Thomas G. Simchak.
The program is open to UHLC graduates with less than five years practice experience as well as upper level students. Attendees will earn 5.25 CLE hours, including 1.50 Ethics credit. Space is limited.
The workshop is 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 1, at the University of Houston Law Center, room 109 BLB. Open parking is available in the lot at the front of the Law Center.
