Oct. 24, 2022 — The What’s Inside vlog visited the University of Houston campus to test the UH Law Center’s cutting-edge addition of autonomous retail for the recent video highlighting the best technology on campuses across the United States.
Entering with a cell phone, customers are linked to the market using machine vision from the moment they step inside and automatically billed for any items removed through the retail app for a checkout-free experience.
The What’s Inside crew demonstrated the technology with a unique shopping trip at the modern convenience store. With a little bit of everything, the market offers students healthy sandwiches, granola bars and sushi as well as cereal, snacks and drinks.
Named by UH Law Center alumnus David Bolen ‘85, the student convenience store is located on the second floor of the state-of-the-art, 180,000-square-foot John M. O’Quinn Law Building, the newest law school in Texas.
