Dec. 2, 2021 – The University of Houston Law Center has an official new street address. It is shifting from 4604 Calhoun Rd. to 4104 Martin Luther King Blvd. The renaming change took effect yesterday. Once the new John M. O’Quinn Law Building is completed in summer 2022, the permanent address of the Law Center will be 4170 Martin Luther King Blvd.
“I support President Khator’s great leadership in advocating for the Calhoun Street name change to the Houston City Council which unanimously approved the request,” said UHLC Dean Leonard M. Baynes. “This change honors the legacy of Dr. King, who fought to end racial inequality and systematic oppression in our country. Moreover, in less than one year, we will have a new, state-of-the-art, modern law building with a contemporary, racial-and-social-justice-focused street address.”
Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd. is now extended north of Wheeler Ave. by the UH campus to Spur 5.
