UHLC’s EENR Center welcomes Professor Warren as new co-director

Nov. 17, 2020 - The Environment, Energy and Natural Resources Center at the University of Houston Law Center recently named Professor Gina Warren as its co-director alongside Victor Flatt, the Dwight Olds Professor of Law.

“I envision a new age for EENR as a leader in sustainability,” Warren said. “Now is the time to build relationships, support research, and advance the transition to a clean energy future.”

Warren the George Butler Research Professor and a UH Energy Fellow, joined the Law Center in 2016. She teaches Property, Energy Law & Policy, Renewable Energy Law, International Energy Law and Oil & Gas. Warren previously served as the chair of the Association of American Law Schools Section on Natural Resources and Energy Law, and is the current chair of academic outreach for the Institute for Energy Law.

Warren is a prolific scholar who is highly published in the areas of sustainable social, environmental, and energy practices. Her research explores the role of policy and regulation in the area of sustainable energy, with a focus on renewable energy, climate change, and distributed generation.

Prior to joining academia, Warren was in private practice for several years as a litigator in energy and utility law for the international law firm of Perkins Coie LLP, where she represented utility companies in court and before federal and state commissions.
