Oct. 16, 2013 – Gov. Rick Perry today appointed University of Houston Law Center alum Peter Taaffe ’97 to the University of Houston System Board of Regents for a term ending Aug. 31, 2019.
He joins two Law Center graduates on the nine-member board, Jarvis Hollingsworth and Nandita Berry, as well as Student Regent Benjamin P. Wells 3L. Taaffe of Austin is a litigator with the Buzbee Law Firm, handling maritime, negligence, real estate, technology, and commercial claims.
He and two other appointees, Durga D. Agrawal and Paula Mendoza, replace outgoing Regents Nelda Blair, Jacob Monty, both UHLC graduates, and Mica Mosbacher.
“Each of the three appointees brings a unique set of valuable skills to the board, but they also share a common commitment to community engagement and higher education,” said UHS Chancellor and UH President Renu Khator. “We are fortunate to have such accomplished and dedicated individuals helping guide the future of the UH System.”
Taaffe is a member of the University of Houston Center for U.S. and Mexican Law Advisory Board, a former adjunct professor at the Law Center, and a past board member of the UH Law Alumni Association.
