Dean's Note with Intermin Dean Richard Alderman

It is a pleasure to be able to write my first Dean's Note by recognizing the accomplishments of my predecessor, Ray Nimmer. Under his guidance for the past year, the University of Houston Law Center improved its U.S. News & World Report ranking from 57 to 48.

Two of our specialty programs also continued to place in the top 10 nationally in U.S. News annual rankings. The Law Center's Intellectual Property Law program ranks No. 7 and Health Law ranks No. 8 in the latest guide. U.S. News also recognized our part-time program singling it out as 16th in the country. And for the first time, our tax program was nationally ranked at No. 18.

While I remain cautious about placing too much emphasis on U.S News or any other survey, it's always good news to be recognized for what we are: a quality law school that produces highly-trained and educated lawyers ready to assume their roles in the legal world.
