We
have all been touched or know someone who has been affected by the
severe weather and flooding in Texas over the past several weeks.
UH Law Center remains committed to helping members of our community in
need and through the Texas Consumer Complaint Center will offer legal
assistance to flood victims. The Center, under the leadership of
Professor Emeritus Richard M. Alderman and Professors David Tiede and
Rick McElvaney, will provide legal information and also help answer
questions on rights and options under the law. If you know someone in
need of assistance, please let them know that they can file a form at texasccc.com or call 877-839-8422.
May
was the wettest month in Texas for the past 120 years, culminating in
storms in the final days of the month causing a number of fatalities and
untold damage to property. Unsafe driving conditions in the area forced
the one-day closure of the University of Houston and the Law Center,
but our building stood strong and came through the flood unscathed.
As we recover from this devastating flood, please keep the
members of our community in our collective thoughts and prayers.
Sincerely, Leonard M. Baynes Dean & Professor of Law University of Houston Law Center |
