As this year comes to a close, I’m filled with a great deal of optimism. The Law Center’s entering class is one of the strongest academically and most diverse in its history. We have endured another COVID-19 pandemic year, returned to in-person instruction, and re-learned the importance of resiliency and flexibility. While the pandemic seems to be lingering, we remain careful and have maintained a strong sense of community among our students, faculty, alumni, staff, and friends.
In January 2022, the Law Center will officially begin celebrating its 75th anniversary. I invite you to participate in our social media campaign by sharing photos and recorded videos of your remembrances of the Law Center. Email content to uhlawcom@uh.edu with the name that you would like used and class year/Law Center affiliation.
A highlight of our 75th year will be the opening of the Law Center’s 4th home, the new John M. O'Quinn Law Building. The modern and state-of-the-art facility will dramatically improve the experience of our students, faculty, staff, alumni, and the community. The O’Quinn Law Building will be the newest law school building in Texas, as well as one of the newest in the nation. It will span approximately 180,000 square feet and boast amenities that include an outdoor terrace, meditation room, convenience store, courtroom, and more. I encourage you to follow our progress as we prepare to open our doors in the fall 2022 semester.
In 2022, we will also be working to ensure that our future is bright for all students. One initiative is the Fuel the Future campaign, which will advance our mission and support our drive for increased opportunities for students through scholarship funding. Learn how you can participate at our website.
It’s because of each of you that the Law Center has had a successful year and that 2022’s horizon is especially bright as we prepare for major milestones.
With that being said, the holidays are a treasured time to take a step back to enjoy moments with those whom you love. I wish you a safe and happy holiday season! May 2022 bring peace, prosperity, and joy to you and those whom you love.
Sincerely,
