Criminal
Law
/ compiled by Linda A. Malone, Paul Marcus & Geraldine Szott Moohr. 7th
ed. LexisNexis, 2012. KF9219.C75
2012 By
treating criminal law from both theoretical and practical perspectives, this
casebook helps students to understand the underlying principles of criminal
law and to relate them to real-life situations. In introducing students
to the criminal justice system, Criminal Law raises questions such
as: “What is the purpose of punishment?” and “What is the relationship
between the state and individuals?” Other issues which are covered
include: efforts by cities to prosecute homeless people for sleeping in
public areas, assisted suicide, conspiracy and multiple defendant trials,
rape (including date rape and post-penetration rape), attempted murder based
on biting/spitting by AIDS patients, “stand your ground” statutes, and
battered victim syndrome. |
