Judge Josefina M. Rendon

Judge Josefina Rendon was one of Harris County’s first Hispanic women attorneys (1977) and Houston’s first woman Civil Service Commissioner (1981).  In 1983, she became one of Houston’s first Hispanic women judges and has since served as Municipal Judge, Justice Court Judge and State District Judge. She is also a mediator, arbitrator, and Harris County Special Commissioner. She has mediated and taught negotiation for the U.S. Air Force, Army, and Navy.

Judge Rendon is past president of the Association for Conflict Resolution-Houston, Texas Association of Mediators and Pasadena Bar. She is an author and speaker in the areas of dispute resolution, diversity and law as well as former editor of The Texas Mediator and editorial board member of the Texas Bar Journal and The Houston Lawyer. Judge Rendon was awarded the Justice Frank Evans Award (Texas State Bar) and Adams Award (Texas Association of Mediators) for her contributions to ADR in Texas.
