CLASS PLAN F2023 -- TBA
POWERPOINTS (BY CHAPTER)
FEDERAL RULES OF EVIDENCE
TEXAS RULES OF EVIDENCE
FEDERAL STANDARDS ON PRIVILEGES
A draft classplan will be posted on the left side of this page. It will lay out the various segments of the course and the approximate timeframes of the classes for each.
The materials to the left shown with links are now updated for the Fall 2023 course.
The required casebook for the course is: Mueller & Kirkpatrick, Evidence Under the Rules, 9th Ed. (Aspen).
Those students wishing to use a textbook might try McCormick's Evidence, 8th Edition 2020, Hornbook Series (West, online). I find it the easiest to understand.
The Federal Rules of Evidence (posted on the left panel here) form the backbone of the course and should be brought in paper form to each class. The Texas Rules of Evidence (also posted here) were modeled on the Federal Rules and in most instances are identical to them. However, the state rules are especially relevant to evidentiary privileges and need to be brought to class when we reach Chapter 12.
